BRIQUETTING OF METAL CHIPS- A rational solution for treatment and enhanced value -
Our proven briquetting system is designed to compact metal chips, directly on their production site, witjout additives of any kind or pre-treatment. The main advantages of the process are the following :
The coolant lubricant is extracted when pressing and returns directly into the existing circuit by pumping; it can be this way re-used after treatment. The quantity of coolant lubricant, previously carried away with the chips, and which need to be replaced in the circuit by regular additions, is generally under estimated. Financial benefits are very high, not only for high value oils, but also for emulsion.
The produced briquettes are highly densified and homogeneous in size and hardness. For information, the density of briquette obtained by briquetting of aluminium chips is generally included between 1.9 g/cm3 and 2.4 g/cm3 for a bulk density of chips often measured at 100 to 400 kg/l. For cast-iron and steel briquettes, the density can reach 4 to 5.8 g/cm3. The briquettes require a reduced storage capacity and can easily be packaged and handled.
This automatic treatment, carried out directly in the industrial premises where chips are produced, combined with the important volume reduction obtained allows important internal costs savings in handling and transport. For instance, during tests for a foundry, on 1200 kg aluminium chips, 16 containers of chips were reduced to 5 (ratio 1:3) .
Because of their high density, of the important decrease in superficial oxidizing as well as of the moisture, the melting of briquettes vs chips is improved.
As the briquettes are more adapted to be melted than bulk chips, their reselling price is higher than for the chips. To this important financial advantage, we should also add the main cost savings thanks to the reprocessing of coolant lubricant , the fact that it can be reused, and the reduced freight costs.
Storing wet chips (from machining) requires space and can bring problems such as handling, or risk of oil leaking during transport.. Thanks to briquetting, these problems are solved and major savings are made in storage surface, which is very interesting.
While reducing the surfaces in contact with the air, the briquetting strongly limits the inflammability of magnesium chips and is in that particular case, an undeniable element of safety. We can send you a video showing chips on fire and put out thanks to briquetting. EURAGGLO is the exclusive distributor for RUF presses in France. The following shows the press range we can offer :
Average capacity depending on raw material processed. ( to be confirmed with tests on representative samples) ) Nota : average density of briquette used for output calculation : 2g/cm3 . See project data-sheet |
